Presence control for a small office
STEINEL IR Micro Office 6m DALI-2 APC is the white concealed-wiring UP presence detector for managing lighting in a small room. Its 15 × 15 mm precision lens and 360° passive infrared detection support straightforward automation in an individual office, work room or small meeting room. The detector senses movement and measures the light available in the room. The selected control mode determines when luminaires switch on and how their brightness changes, providing a combination of automatic operation and manual control for the people using the space.
Square coverage around the work area
At the manufacturer's optimum mounting height of 2.8 m, presence and radial movement detection cover 4 × 4 m or 16 m², while tangential movement coverage reaches 6 × 6 m or 36 m². These figures describe different movement conditions: plan the desk within the presence area, while the outer area supports detection of people walking through the room. The square lens layout with 168 switching zones helps match the detector's orientation to the room. Position it with a clear view of the work area, taking tall cabinets and partitions into account.
The supplied clip-on shrouds allow individual detection segments to be limited mechanically. This is useful, for example, when an open doorway connects an office to a busy corridor. Choose the position, fit the relevant shrouds and check the result in test mode. The manufacturer specifies installation at heights from 2 to 5 m; the maximum mounting height does not guarantee the same 4 × 4 m presence coverage under every installation condition.
One DALI lighting group
DALI-2 APC Single-Master is the control interface of this version. The detector acts as an application controller and controls up to 20 DALI participants in one broadcast group. Compatible luminaires on this connection receive common control commands, making it suitable for the lighting of an individual room. Brightness control requires luminaires with suitable dimmable DALI drivers. The detector requires a 220–240 V, 50–60 Hz mains supply; separate DALI terminals provide the lighting control connection. Use the manufacturer's supplied wiring diagram to assess the connection and compatibility of the selected equipment.
The integrated DALI supply provides a guaranteed 40 mA for 20 electronic ballasts; the manual specifies a maximum supply current of 250 mA. This single-master controller's DALI-2 certification covers connections with only electronic ballasts, or control gear, on the DALI line. The maximum control-line length is 300 m with a conductor cross-section of 1.5 mm². The cable between the detector and its external pushbutton must be shorter than 50 m.
Brightness that follows daylight
Integrated mixed-light measurement supports constant-lighting control: as available daylight changes, the system adjusts artificial lighting towards the selected working level. The light threshold can be set from 2 to 1000 lx, and the Teach function helps save an appropriate level at the installation. The main-light level is adjustable from 0 to 100 %. Basic lighting can be configured for a selected period, throughout the night or according to brightness; it can also be disabled. The 5-second to 60-minute stay-on time lets the installer match switch-off behaviour to the way the room is used.
Settings and manual operation
The STEINEL Connect app and Bluetooth Mesh provide configuration and interconnection of compatible devices. Fully automatic operation manages switching on and off, while semi-automatic operation lets the user switch the light on and leaves automatic switch-off to the detector. The external pushbutton connection supports manual operation, including the TouchDIM function as described in the instructions. Lighting scenes, a neighbouring-group function and adjustable fade times for switching on and off are available. Bluetooth pushbuttons and additional system components are purchased separately.
Installation and image context
The UP version attaches to a concealed ceiling mounting box. It has a different mounting arrangement from the separate spring-retained in-ceiling DE version; check the fixing and available box space before ordering. The white RAL 9003 plastic housing measures Ø85 × 37 mm and has a net weight of 79 g. Its IP20 construction is intended for indoor use. The main image shows the exact white concealed-wiring UP product with article number 067151. The additional product image shows the same DALI-2 APC family's surface-mounted AP model 067137 to compare mounting constructions. It is a different mounting version, offered separately and not included in the package with detector 067151. The office visualisation is the manufacturer's IR Micro family application illustration; the precise detector model and mounting version installed in that room are not confirmed. The room, furniture, luminaires and other pictured equipment are not included with this product.
